I’m Jim, a 25 year old American living in Japan where I’m serving with the US Navy. I work in the IT field, specifically in the network administration/security world. I’ve been living in Japan for about 2 1/2 years, and while it’s not bad, it’s not exactly my favorite place to be.
WHAT IS FEWL?
FEWL was a personal blog I started with the goal of talking about techy related stuff. I’m a huge nerd, so I figured I could delight everyone with 1337 skills or something, but then I got orders to Japan. Since I’ve been in the 7th Fleet, my site has become almost exclusively about life in the Navy and the 7th Fleet, and I’m cool with that. Surprisingly I have a huge reader base, with the majority of it being Sailors also in the 7th Fleet. I’m not trying to be the voice of the little guy or any of that shit, but I don’t mind talking about what’s on everyone’s mind.
Everyone who tries to say my site’s name out loud isn’t sure how to pronounce it. While it may be spelled in a way that it would phonetically be like “fuel,” I prefer to defy the laws of the English language and pronounce it “fool.” I’m a big idiot, so it fits.
