Thanks for posting this. It's interesting to see it all in one place and it's actually quite useful when having conversations about crime and the Navy.

You can do whatever you want to make the process of keeping dirtbags out of Japan. The harsh reality is you all are sadly mistaken to think it would get rid of all the bad apples. Anyone w/o a waiver or w/e can play the game to come to Japan. After they're here they are able to run rampant if they want. Basically what I'm trying to say is "You can't save them all!!" ha ha

I'm beginning to worry now, as the GW sailors have been getting more and more out of hand while in San Diego. Five DUIs were issued in the first week alone. The last thing I want is to go through all the stress of this move and then have the GW get kicked out of Japan after only a few months. I'm not really sure what all it would take for that to happen, but it is something I worry about.

And another thing, not to mention better over seas screening. Anyone that has waivers for violent crimes and/or drugs should not be allowed in Japan. When all this liberty bullshit first started in 2002 I made this suggestion and got laughed at by khakis and them telling me that there wouldn't be anyone to send to Japan if that happened.

Apparently paying money or getting caught isn't enough of a deterent, I vote for a field trip to a Japanese prison. I've only heard horror stories from there, and none of them were pretty. I think some serious scare tactics are in order. Just the thought of going to a Japanese prison scares the shit out of me!

What's Channel 12? That's NHK or Asahi TV I think for me.... I love that they put in the incident with the moped--which are the biggest dangers on the road on a daily basis; moral of the story, give them a lot of leeway because they don't comprehend relative motion or the stopping ability of an automobile...no one is going to win that battle. Stay away from them.

I guess what people should take away from this is that it isnt just murders and rapes that annoy the Japanese--its the petty crimes that frustrate the locals and make more work for the police...

Maybe CNFJ needs to add an annual training, for military and civilian personnel, to include this type of presentation and that video that they show on channel 12. The one with the people that had something to do with drugs and where they show sailors in Japanese prison.

Or they could just add it to channel 12's line up of powerpoint slides.

I know, I know, I must be like the only one that actually watches channel 12 when Commander's Corner isn't on.
