Airman In Hot Water Over Hilarious Website.

A California National Guard Senior Airman is in some hot water over his personal website HowToKillPeople.com. The site was reported to have derogatory statements against against women, minorities, and politicians. The guardsman said it’s satire, while a large number of sensitive and easily offended idiots claim it’s nothing more than bad taste, and some even say the website’s URL may be inappropriately suggestive. The Sr. Airman, Travis Gruber, decided to put the site back online to let the public see both sides of the story. After seeing the site, I’m not offended in the least. In fact, I think some of it is hilarious. Be sure to check out his remix of the Family Circus cartoons.

I have a smack of reality for all the people who are offended by this website due to the author’s occupation. People don’t work through four years of college with the goal of enlisting in the military. If they happen to anyway, they quickly realize their mistake and decide to just do their time and get out like the rest of us. That being said, the military is comprised of people from all walks of life. If you think we all walk around being polite to each other and discussing how proud we are to be serving our country and her people while listening to Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American,” then you are sadly mistaken. We are some crude mother fuckers with appalling senses of humor. Sure, you might see us on TV “Yes, sir! No, ma’am. It’s a pleasure to serve, Sir.” but that’s what we call a Dog & Pony show. It basically means, if we acted like we normally act around each other, we’d be grabbing our ankles and waiting for The Man to take it to us. When we’re amongst ourselves, we’re masters of sarcasm and no topic is off-limits. I work with one guy whose Mom is routinely the center of our sexual jokes. Does he care? No. Another buddy we work with is known to everybody as the resident child molester, even though he isn’t. Does he care? No. When you work 18 hour days with shitty pay, and no sense of accomplishment or purpose, tasteless humor is the only cure for not going insane. I’m surprised that a country whose daily television consists of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Dateline’s To Catch A Predator can be so easily offended. Where’s that free speech thing that we’re supposed to be out here protecting? Do we do this for nothing?

Congratulations to Travis for being a man and sticking to his guns by putting his site back up. Feel free to check out www.HowToKillPeople.com!

Wow! It’s nice to see someone who blogged favorably about Travis for a change!

…and our beloved military personnel don’t listen to Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American” 24/7? Ah well, you’re secret’s safe with me. ;)

So uhhhh…you know any good dragon jokes??

Travis is a good guy and a great writer. There are some people who are offended by everything, even that we dare to breathe the same air that they do. To them and to the people who criticize Travis I say, Fuck them if they can’t take a joke.

Haha, neat link. I say kudos to anyone who has the balls to blog “against the grain” irrelevant of their profession.
