At least that’s what it seems like. Lately, I’ve been seeing different news stories about heinous crimes, that if the roles had been reversed, would be considered hate crimes. The difference is that the perpetrators aren’t white. The latest is a story I read about in Seattle. Two soldiers who had just returned from Iraq were out with some female friends. One of the females, who was wife to one of the victims said she was groped by a strange man, so she threw a hotdog at him. The females and their two male companions then left, only to be jumped moments laters by the same strange man and over a dozen of his friends. The fact that it was like 13 people on 2 isn’t even the worst part. The worst part is that after they were unconscious the attackers were still kicking them and stomping on their faces. It was right in public on a busy main street on a busy night, and not even one person had the balls to try and stop it. The attackers were black, and while I have a lot of non-white friends, I sometimes find it hard to not revert back to the stereotypes I was raised with. When I see so many stories like this, it’s almost like, why should I bother trying to be fair and treat people with equality, when they certainly wouldn’t give it to me. The whole thug culture is founded on nothing but ignorance, stupidity, and violence. Just last week I watched a video filmed at an Oakland projects. Some girl who supposedly snitched on some guy was literally ripped out of her car, stripped of her clothes, and nearly beaten to death by a mob of about 50 people. (Video - Graphic)How can that even remotely be justifable?! Why doesn’t anyone ever mention race as a factor, when if it was reversed it would definitely be a hate crime!

I’m really touchy with violence. It sounds gay, but it’s how I’ve always been.
I can watch shit like UFC and whatever other spinoffs they have where guys pound each others faces in, but both guys KNOW what’s coming. They signed the contract, they’ve been paid, they know the risks. When people are just getting beaten up, it almost makes me sick. I won’t watch the video with the two guys, much less even think about watching the one with the woman in it.
Back to the main point though, that’s how it is. Most people stand for themselves. They’d rather watch some people get fucking destroyed than to even do as little as to call the police or get some help from someone. I can’t really say too much though, cause I will say right now unless I had some kind of serious weapon, I wouldn’t exactly throw myself into a group of people and try and fight them off or anything.
Race will never be a non issue. It’s almost a fucking disadvantage to be white now. Don’t get a good table at a restaurant? Racism. Don’t get into a school? Racism. Every fucking thing is being blamed on racism if you’re not white. You can’t complain about it, because now you’re the racist. I had a guy at work the other day yelling at one of our employees for being “racist” because he wouldn’t let his Asian wife get more than the store limit on some sale item.
It’s such a fucking fad right now to blame every single thing that doesn’t go right for you on racism. People need to grow the fuck up, accept some control over their lives, and stop blaming everything on the color of their skin.
But let’s not say that, cause we’ll be called racists for it.

“Police say race was not a factor in the July assaults, and point out that race should never come into play unless it is part of a crime, such as a hate crime…Race was what some latched on to by assuming that a conspiracy was afoot to cover up blacks beating up “white war heroes” enjoying a night on the town.”
On the one hand, the media may have left their races out because it shouldn’t matter–it was a senseless crime, no matter what the race of the attackers or the attacked. On the other, by not telling people, people filled in the blanks themselves based on stereotypes, and some of those people came to the conclusion that you did.
Posted 11 Sep 2005 at 1:49 am ¶I admit I did jump to that conclusion. I think that’s partly because I lived in the area during the Mardi Gras incident. They would show the video repeatedly on the nightly news, and it always started with a white woman being beaten by a black man, who laters beats the white man that tried to jump in, to death. Interestingly, current statistics on the race of criminals and their victims are easy to find, if they even exist. Though here are just a few of the stories that I’ve seen. Don’t take this as some racist mumbo jumbo, I mean the woman in my life is hispanic. It’s just not fair that whatever I do, is always under scrutiny of being racially motivated because I’m white, and it needs to work both ways.
